Inscription
Camillus Brennus Huggins I, son of Jonathan Huggins and Elizabeth W. Smith Huggins, was born on June 5, 1822. In his early years, Mr. Huggins (circa 1850), Mr. Huggins served as a clerk for Rutherford County, Tennessee.
Mr. Huggins married, on January 3, 1855, Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Ridley, daughter of Henry Ridley and his wife, Elizabeth Allison Ridley. They were cousins. Eight children were blessed to their union.
Camillus Huggins owned a dry good business before the Civil war. In military pursuits, he served in the Commissionary Dept. of the Confederate Army as a purchasing agent during the Civil War. Additionally, he served as alderman for Rutherford County from 1860-1862, and city treasurer in 1862. After the war, Mr. Huggins was an officer of the First National Bank.
Camullius Brennus Huggins died on February 9, 1910 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery.
