"Laura Andes, oldest child W.C. and Emma Andes, was born near Mound City, January 3, 1873, and passed away at her home three miles southeast of Mound City near the place of her birth, May 26, 1950, age 77 years, 4 months, and 23 days.

Her birth took place on a farm owned by her Grandfather Schaeffer and her death on an adjoining farm, formerly owned by Grandfather Andes. This farm has remained in the family for four generations.

She was united in marriage to Jno. R. Nixon, February 24, 1898. She was the mother of seven children; Ralph, Tarkio; Leroy, St. Joseph; Frank, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Nelson Spencer, Memphis, Tenn.; Russell, Harold, and Mrs. Don Hicks, Mound City. Besides these to mourn her passing are 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Weightman, and Mrs. Roy Kuhn, Mound City, and Mrs. W.W. Murray, Los Gatos, Calif.; one brother, Grover C. Andes, Charlotte, North Carolina; two aunts, Mrs. Sarah Wilkes, Forest City, and Anna R. Schaeffer of Mound City and many other relatives and friends.

Her husband preceded her in death, May 10, 1946. The remainder of her life in her own home.

She was united with the Christian Church in early lie during the pastorate of H.P. Tandy. She was loyal and faithful to her vows.

The family has lost a loving and devoted and sister. The community has lost an excellent Christian character but we shall never lose the influence of her just way of living.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 29, 1950, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church, conducted by the Reverend Elmer C. Johnston. Interment was in the Mount Hope cemetery."
