Harris Fahnestock
Boston, Mass., Oct. 11 - Harris Fahnestock, 70 years old, retired New York banker and a devotee of coaching, died today at the Copley-Plaza hotel, of heart disease. Fahnestock and his second wife, the former Mrs. Georgette Gerard-Varet Hyde, were seen frequently at the Metropolitan opera, and were known also for the brilliant assemblages at private musicales in their home. For many years Fahnestock drove his four-in-hand every day through New York streets and was the last member of the coaching club to give up driving in town.
