Orville E. Corbin, 89, of Ames, died of cancer at his home.
He was born to Wilbert and Mary (McKee) Corbin in Nevada. In 1925, he married Julia Sorem, who preceded him in death. On November 23, 1972, he married Gerine (Erickson) Myers in Roland. He was a resident of Ames since 1938 where he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the carpenter's union and Ascension Lutheran Church. He was a faithful volunteer at the Salvation Army in both Boone and Ames. He received the Salvation Army's Volunteer of the Year award in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Gerine, of Ames; three daughters, Joyce Swanson of Nevada, Darlene Brekke of Ames and Joan Jelden of Ames; three sons, Gene Corbin of Nevada, DeWayne Corbin of Nevada and Virgil Corbin of Winterset; five stepsons, Rodney, Dale, Bob and Mike Myers of Ames and Chris Myers of Colo; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 17 step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eva Baldus of Story City and Ella Wilkenson of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers; and eight sisters.
