Lawrence "PaPa" Alfred Alaminsky died August 27, 2014 in Needville, Texas. He was born May 1, 1924 in Burton, TX to Theodore & Elizabeth Alaminsky.
He grew up on the farm and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After returning home from the war, he married Eileen Tielke on May 12, 1946. The couple moved to Sugar Land where he took a job with Sugar Land Industries. They settled in the area that is now Riverstone, and reared their three children. When Sugar Land Industries started dissolving, Lawrence landed a job in Houston working as a maintenance engineer at Prudential Insurance. He worked there until retiring in 1979.
Lawrence was a jack of all trades and master of some. He was an avid outdoorsman, carpenter, and gardener. He also loved to BBQ and was the founding member of the Church House Cookers at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville.
Mr. Alaminsky was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Selma Draemer.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eileen; sister, Evelyn Vaclavik; children, Carol Brice and husband, Dave, Russell Alaminsky and wife, Rita, and Gayle Maresh; grandchildren, Cris & Shay Meyer, Matt & Kristy Meyer, Randy Alaminsky, Staci and Mike Davila, Ryan Alaminsky, Jennifer and Matthew Richardson, and Jonathan Maresh; great-grandchildren, Seth Alaminsky, Hayden, Lita, Hudson, and Myla Meyer, Madison Davila, Abigale Richardson.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461. Burial will follow at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. Rosenberg, TX 77471. A time of visitation will be held 9 - 11 AM, preceding the funeral service.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Immanuel United Church of Christ Brotherhood, 9018 Church Street, Needville, TX 77461.
