Henry James Adams, son of B. F. and Mary Adams was born January 24, 1877 near Wellman, Iowa, and died July 18, 1956 at his home in Wetmore at the age of 79 years, five months and 24 days. He was the seventh child in a family of 13.

At the age of six, he moved with his parents to Marshall County, Kansas, where they lived until 1901 when the family moved to Nemaha county, where he spent the remainder of his life.

January 24, 1906, Henry Adams and Minnie Dorothy Sophia Krack were married at the Methodist parsonage in Wetmore. They made their home one mile east of Bancroft, where he resided for 39 years.

They were parents of four children, one son and three daughters. One daughter, Viola Mae, passed away March 15, 1917.

His wife died June 14, 1920, leaving him with three small children, whom he raised without the aid of a companion. He was a faithful and loyal father, devoted to the obligation of rearing his children.

His vocation was farming and carpentry.

Because of failing health, he retired from the farm in 1945 and moved to Wetmore where he lived until his death.

Throughout his infirmity and final illness, he had the loving care of his children and their families.

He is survived by his son, Loren Adams, of Kansas City, and his two daughters, Mrs. Zella Jane Lowry of Wetmore and Miss Irene Dorothy Adams of the home.

He also leaves three grandchildren, Mrs. Anita Jean Guffy, Keith and Leon Adams, and one great-grandson, Edwin Guffy.

He is survived by one brother, Edmund Adams, of Wheaton and three sisters, Mrs. Rachel Holt of Blue Rapids, Mrs. Daisy Foster of Corning, and Mrs. Della Storms of Lamar, Colo., many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

The Rev. Leroy Davis conducted the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Methodist church in Wetmore.
