Bea Thomas Wright shared this family history about her father, Matt Thomas, who was a widower. He devoted his time to raising his children, was very strict with them, and taught them Christian values. When the five girls became teenagers the young men started visiting them much to Matt's unhappiness. His eldest daughter Lucy Thomas married Charlie Wesley Smith, and Bessie Thomas married Charlie's brother Marshall Lee Smith.

Matt did not want his three younger daughters to fall in love and leave home for a few more years. He suddenly had them pack everything they could carry and he moved his family about sixty or seventy miles, by a wagon with oxen pulling it to Sabine County, Texas, back in the piney woods around Centerview Community, Sabine County, hoping to keep them home. Of course eventually the young men came courting the three sisters! At age nineteen Bea Thomas married the love of her life, Willie Wright, a serious minded Christian young man on June 18, 1918 in Sabine County, Texas. Essie Thomas married L. M. Ritter a fine young man, and Ira Mae Thomas married a good man, Jim Parker. Horace the youngest son never married.

Bea and Willie had six children, four of them living to adulthood. Two children died young: Eight months infant Virgal Dorris Wright died from pneumonia and was laid to rest in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co., TX. Twelve years old Mirtie Emma Wright died when her appendix burst during the night, and was buried in Wood Cemetery, San Augustine Co, TX.

Willie and Bea were married "unto death do we part" for fifty-four and a half years. Our heavenly Father called Willie Wright home to his eternal rest on January 2, 1975. Bea followed her Willie home on February 11, 1986. Bea is buried next to her Willie and they are eternally together in the Lord's loving care.
