Hard, the nation’s oldest Civil War Veteran, died last night at 111 of complication that followed a leg amputation. … Hard, who according to his war record was born in Windsor, spent his boyhood in that town and enlisted for his Civil War duty from there. … Hard’s first wife died in 1879, and his second in 1929. A daughter by is first wife died in 1948. Three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive.
