Sara Akers, age 36, of LaPorte, IN passed away on Friday August 29, 2014.
She was born on February 28, 1978 in Valparaiso, IN. She is survived by her parents, Ralph (Gloria) Akers of LaPorte, IN and Mary (Slick/Clarence) Garbe of Chesterton, IN; brother, David Akers and sister, Robin Tharp.
Sara was a bricklayer with Local 4 for many years.
Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Fredrick Hoover officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm the funeral home.
Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.

Sara married Christopher Hopkins on 9/3/2005. They were married for about five years. She was my daughter-in-law and she will be missed.
Her ashes are interred in columbarium at the Furnessville cemetery with her mother's Mary Bonner Akers Bennett Garbe.
