Wilbur L Adam, 94, Alma, Kansas, died Sunday, Apr 9, 1989, at Alma Manor. Mr. Adam was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone, Abilene, Kansas in July 1959. He served in the 139th Infantry, 35th Division, Company I, during World War II.
He was born July 28, 1894 at Latimer, Kansas, the son of Fred L and Evelyn Watson Adam and lived most of his life in Abilene. He attended Dickinson County High School in Chapman. He lived in Alma the past 13 years. He was married to Sylvia M Winslow on July 30, 1917 at Council Grove, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1980. A daughter, Eileen G. Adam died in 1925 and a son, Arthur Fred Adam, died in 1983. Survivors include two sons and three daughters, 17 grand-children, 5 step-grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 11th,at Danner Funeral Home, Abilene. The service was conducted by a nephew, Rev. William Winslow of Newton. Burial was in the Abilene Cemetery.
