Alvina S. Janssen, 103, of Richmond, Mo, died on September 1, 2014 at the Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo. Alvina was born on August 26, 1911 in Bloomfield, Ne to Ernest and Elizabeth (Stamp) Boll. She married Walter Herman Janssen of South Dakota on May 1, 1939. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1982. Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis W. and Dorothy Janssen of Humansville, Mo, two daughters, Sandra J. Rasa of Blue Springs, Mo, Karen K. Garrett of Richmond, Mo, five grandchildren and their spouses, Kathy and Doug Stanley, David and Rhonda Janssen, Daranya and Michael Sandy, Desiree and Jay Wilson, Jimmie and Pam Garrett, six great-grandchildren, C. J. Garrett, Shawn Garrett, Brandie Garrett, Caleb Janssen, Kodi Stanley and Kyle Stanley, and three great-great-grandchildren, Blake Janssen, Garrett Janssen and Kaiden Garrett. In addition to her parents and husband, Alvina was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and a grandson, Dennis Janssen, Jr. Alvina was a homemaker. She was a member of the Richmond Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELDoNA). She had lived in the Kansas City, Ks, before moving to Richmond in 1995. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Richmond Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELDoNA).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Argentine, Ks.
