She passed away at the age of 97.Ursie E. Black, 97 resident of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 15, 1915 in Allenville, MO to the late George and Lizzie Lewis Swan. She was married to Calvin Black who precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by two children, Earl Brassfield and Shirley Robinson.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, MO

Ursie enjoyed cooking and caring for children. She held several different jobs throughout her life.

She is survived by three nieces, Susie Lewis of Jackson, Betty McGee of Battlecreek, MI and Mary Sue Swan of Boston, MA, two nephews William Swan of Florissant and Robert Otis Swan of Boston, two great nephews, Larry Swan of Boston and Daryl Swan of Cape Girardeau, a special grandson, Michael (Willa) of Cerritos, CA and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends may call Monday, July15, 2013 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 at Futrell Memorial COGIC in Jackson. Interment in New Lorimier Cemetery with Williams Funeral Home of Charleston in charge of arrangements
