Services for Doris N. "Dorisie" Fechner, 77, of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview, with Pastor Larry Wilkins and Pastor Randy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. this evening, March 2, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home. Doris was born July 24, 1928, to Henry Grady Harris and Lena Evelyn Wilson Harris of Marshall. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1946. She married Thomas Fechner on June 25, 1948, and together, they celebrated 58 years of marriage. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, surrounded by her family. Doris was a homemaker and a second mother to all of her kids in her neighborhood. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a Mary Kay beauty consultant for the past 42 years. She loved to work in her yard, and she took great pride in all the beautiful flowers and ferns that she displayed. She was an avid "Gone with the Wind" collector, and she had quite a display of dolls and artifacts. Most of all, she loved to collect and display angels .. now, she is one! Doris was a woman with strong Christian beliefs. She received Christ as her Lord and Savior in August of 1940. From that time on, she instilled the importance of prayer and praise, and she displayed extraordinary faith in the midst of many storms. She was truly the virtuous woman described in Proverbs, "Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her for her price is far above rubies." Doris was a member of The Dove Church and will be deeply missed by her church family. Mrs. Fechner is survived by her husband, Thomas "Tom" Fechner of Longview; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Keith Morgan of Longview; her grandchildren, Shannon and Bryan Humphrey of Longview, Corporal Jason and Holly Morgan of New Orleans, Jodie and Mito Fortiz of Maypearl, and Laurie and Pat Hardy of Grand Prairie; and her great-grandchildren, Beaux and Blake Chamberland, and their dad, Jason Chamberland. Doris is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Robert and Marilyn Harris of Karnack, Earline Williams of Longview, Mary and Bob Allen of Oklahoma City, Wayne and Nancy Harris of Marshall, and Ken and Donna Harris of White Oak. She is also survived by her aunts, Elzie Jennings and Maxine Lindsey of Magnolia, Arkansas; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Fechner was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Evelyn Harris; and one daughter, Teresa Marie "Terri" Fechner. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her family and many friends. And, according to Beaux and Blake, "Dorisie is teaching angels how to sing!"
