Hattie Mae (Jeri) Burns May 10, 1939 - April 27, 2012 Hattie Mae (Jeri) Jarrett Burns, 72 of Boise, died Friday, April 27, 2012 in Phoenix AZ after a long battle with ALS. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, May 4th at Willow Brook United Methodist Church in Sun City West, Arizona. The Rev. Valerie Fairchild will officiate. Jeri was born in 1939, the daughter of Other and Mary Jarrett. in Summersville, WV. At the age of 18 years old she joined the Air Force. She met and married James Burns in 1958, in Albuquerque, NM, who was also in the Air Force. In 1973 they moved to Boise where she worked in the Boise School District until retirement. Jeri lived in Boise for 37 years, before she moved to Phoenix, in 2009 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed her summers with her grandchildren as well as traveling, reading, sewing and making quilts for her family. She was a member of Whitney United Methodist Church and devoted her time to serving and supporting its ministry. Jeri is survived by her daughter, Kathy and her husband, Steven; her sons, James and his wife, Linda and Michael and his wife Christi; four grandchildren, Krystina, Kariann, Kimberlee, Amanda and Caden; step granddaughter, Allison and sisters Virgina Tolliver and Myrtle Workman. She is preceded in death by her husband, James; siblings: Pribble, Floyd, Homer, Mabel, Daniel and Ocie.
