In 1792, Abraham and his wife moved to Weaver Creek, SC. In 1794, they went to Cherokee Creek, TN. In 1796, they moved to Speedwell, TN. In 1812, they went to Fincastle, TN. Then in 1834, they moved to McGirk, Moniteau Co., MO.

Abraham served in the military in 1793 and 1794 in Captain Scott's Company of Colonel Christian's Regiment, Militia of the Territory South of the Ohio. He served again in 1812 in the company of his brother, Captain Henry Hunter, in Colonel William Johnson's Regiment, Tennessee Militia.

Abraham and Mary had twelve children: Margaret; unnamed son; David; Barbara; John W.; Jacob; Abraham; Isaac b. December 12, 1806 d. abt. 1847; Henry; Ali L.; Jonathan Dock; and Andrew Jackson.
