David served in Civil War, Union, Company E, 105th Pennsylvania Volunteers, enlisting August 1861, wounded at Fredericksburg, Virginia, honorably discharged May 1863 with disability.

He was a riverboat Captain in McKeesport, married Nancy Jane HOUSEHOLDER, August 1, 1864, and the 1900 census, indicates they had 11 children, 7 living.
