Adams, The Rev. Charles P.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1999, at Crestwood Chapel for the Rev. Charles P. Adams, 88, Gadsden, who died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999. The Revs. Jerry Abbett and Alton Parris will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

The Rev. Adams was a native of Etowah County. He was a retired member of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church, having served a number of churches from 1940 to 1968. Since retirement he attended the East Gadsden Methodist Church where he taught the Brotherhood Class for many years and sang in the Chancel Choir. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lula Adams, and his sisters, Maudie Adams and Mary Lou Nelms.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Dollar Adams; son, Rick (Midge) Adams, Birmingham; daughters, Maria (Danny) Batchelor, Anniston, and Angela Adams, Gadsden; grandchildren, Penny, Amy and Daniel Batchelor, Anniston; Christie King, Florida; and Jason Borden, Wisconsin; and great-grandchildren, Brian and Eddie.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of the third and fourth floors and OOD of Riverview Hospital, Dr. Stephen Jones and Dr. Jed Kaplan.

Pallbearers will be Monty Gilmore, Harry Nelms, Don Nelms, Jim Pope, Daniel Batchelor and Danny Batchelor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Scott Vance, all members of the Brotherhood Class and choir members of East Gadsden Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Crestwood Funeral Home and the body will lie in state at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
