Lois E. Gruenhagen, age 91, of Madison, formerly of Wentworth, died Mon., May 2, 2005, at Bethel Lutheran Home, Madison.

Lois E. Bloker was born December 27, 1913 at Wentworth, to Walter and Jessie (Thurston) Bloker. She grew up in the Wentworth area and received her teaching degree at Eastern Normal College (now Dakota State University), Madison. She taught for several years and was also secretary for the S.D. Tuberculosis Assn. She married Theodore Gruenhagen on December 26, 1946 at Wentworth. They made their home in Wentworth until his death in 1995. She then moved into Bethel Lutheran Apartments in Madison where she resided until her death. She was an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Wentworth. Always the consummate teacher, she loved reading to neighborhood children. She understood the true meaning of fellowship, whether it was in her Devotional Group, playing bridge or visiting people at the coffee hour at Bethel.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: her parents; her husband; five brothers and two sisters.

SURVIVORS: two daughters, Diann (Bob) Wuttke of Scottsdale, AZ and Rae Mumford of Mt. Pleasant, MI; three grandchildren, Ryan Wuttke, Kara Mumford and Alison Mumford; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
