Mr. Grandstaff has been in [?] health for the past two years, previous to which he showed remarkable strength and robustness. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Sept. 25, 1809 and was said to have been the first white child born in that place. His father [Lewis Grandstaff] was an early pioneer of Ohio, and died at the advanced age of 112; and of such good health was he possessed, that on the day of his death he went out hunting and was found dead in the woods, with his gun lying by his side. The deceased has a sister 82 years old [Sidney Grandstaff Grandstaff] living in Knox county, who still enjoys fairly good health, and has been present for some days to assist in the care of her brother. For several years the deceased has made his home in this city where he enjoyed the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. Besides his daughter here, other children are living in Toledo. The remains of Lewis Grandstaff were taken to Nashport near Zanesville today for burial leaving here on the 5'o clock train in the morning.
