Willie, also affectionately known as "Joe" or "Bill" was a 1956 graduate of Olympia High School; he served 11 years in the South Carolina Air National Guard and was activated in 1961 during the Berlin Crisis. He worked at Columbia Supply Company for 25 years and retired from Wilder Motor and Equipment Company as Vice President in 2000, after 26 years of service. He was an avid golfer, NASCAR Fan, Gamecock Fan and enjoyed yard work.
