Alexandra (italianised Alessandra) Alice Marie von Wolff a.d.H. Stomersee, Princess of Lampedusa, Latvian noblewoman and psychanalist. Born in Nizza as daughter of the Baltic-German nobleman Boris von Wolff a.d.H. Stomersee, cabinet secretary of the Russian-born queen Olga of Wurtemberg, later court master of Tsar Nicholas II.
Alexandra, nicknamed " Lichy", since 1918 was married to André Pilar, an Estonian baron. On August 24, 1932 in Riga she married Prince Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, the Sicilian writer and author of 'il Gattopardo' (literally "The Ocelot"), whom she had first met in London in 1925. She was founder of the Italian society of psychanalists SPI. Among her main achievements are the development of the conception of borderline and the definition of aggressive narcicissm.
After the death of her second husband in 1957, she dedicated her activities to the edition of his works.
Although most sources indicate "Stomersee" as the correct orthography, on her (and Tomasi's) gravestone the spelling is "Alessandra Wolff Stommersee / Principessa di Lampedusa"
