Obituary - Harold Alonzo Hinckley, age 96, passed away June 22, 1991 in Long Beach, California, after a short illness.
He was born October 21, 1894 in Hinckley, Idaho to Arza Alonzo and Rose May Robison Hinckley. He married Rhoda Richards Hinckley, July 12, 1926, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death October 9, 1987.
Harold served a four-year LDS Mission to Auckland, New Zealand, among the Maori people. Upon returning from his mission he graduated from the University of Utah, where he met his sweetheart, Rhoda Richards.
He graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School in 1932. He passed the California Medical Board August 1933 and received his Physicians and Surgeons Certificate. He practiced medicine in Long Beach, Calif., from 1939-1984.
He is survived by daughters: LaRue Cutler of Long Beach, Calif.; and Janice Sederholm, Lakewood, Calif.; Charlene Hinckley (who died as a child); 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He came from a family of 14 children, two of which died as infants, and is survived by two brothers: Rulon Hinckley and Arza A. Hinckley, Salt Lake City (both well-known in the Salt Lake area); six sisters, Susannah Palmer, Angeline Solomon, Ethel Irvine, Utah; Nellie Jones, Los Angeles, Calif.; Beulah Rose, Zina Ashton, Utah.
His colleagues call him a great sequoia, a strength to the community and in life. He was much beloved as a father and grandfather.
Graveside services will be held Friday, June 28, 1991 at 12 noon, at Farmington City Cemetery, 500 South 200 East. Family and friends may call from 10 -11:30 a.m. prior to services at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main.
