Lorena Carlson, 88, of Eau Claire died Friday, March 3, 2006, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, at Landmark Christian Church, Chippewa Falls. Burial will be in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Brad Crocker will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the church and also from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church on Monday.

Lorena was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Cleghorn, Iowa, to Walter and Mamie Ehlers. She graduated from Cleghorn Consolidated Schools in 1935 and from NBT (National Business Training School) in 1937. She worked for Central Electric and Telephone Company as a private secretary until her marriage to Martin Carlson on Sept. 1, 1941. He died Nov. 19, 1991. They lived in Moline, Ill., where Martin worked at the Rock Island Arsenal until 1944. They returned to Iowa to farm and settled on Lorena's home farm until 1956, when they bought a dairy farm and moved to Owen, Wis. They retired from farming in 1978 and moved to a new home in Abbotsford. Lorena worked for the Frederick Post Company in Owen from 1966 to 1982. They spent their winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.
After Martin died in 1991, Lorena moved to St. John's Apartments in Eau Claire. She worked for her daughter Carol as a receptionist for Acceptance Mortgage since 1998.
Lorena is survived by her children, Linda Johnson of Orlando, Fla., Craig (Helen) Carlson of Stanley, Carol Carlson of Eau Claire and Marlene (Philip) Palser of Eau Claire; one brother, Kenneth Ehlers of Chatham, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; an infant sister, Norene; two sisters, Geneva Siljenberg and Marjorie (Milton) Halstrom; one brother, Arthur Ehlers; and a grandson, Scott Johnson.
