Raised in Eldon, MO and graduated from Eldon High School in 1936. In 1937 he came to the Madison area to work for his Uncle William and Aunt Flora Devine who owned a newspaper agency. With the exception of World War 2, where he served in the U S Army in Europe and was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart medal, he delivered newspapers until 1958 to the community. After a year with Dow and Granite City Steel. he served 26 years as a custodian for Madison Public Schools. On June 26, 1947, he married Sylvia Bellcoff, daughter of Naum and Dana Bellcoff. They were the parents of Robert William Reeves and Donna Reeves, who married Dennis Lybarger. Sylvia died in 1991,but his children still survive.
