***son Captain Fredrick Sharpsteen's wife Rosa and their son John drown 8-20-1899 on board the
schooner HUNTER SAVIDGE capsized in a squall off Pointe aux Barques, Lake Huron. Five lives lost. She was bound from Sarnia to Alpena. The SAVIDGE was built in 1879 and owned by John Muellerweiss of Alpena. John's wife and daughter drowned along with first ship mate Thomas Dubey.
