Adeline left the homestead in Brownton, Mn at the age of 15 to come to St. Paul to make a life for herself. She traveled by train and got a job at the Angus Hotel on Grand Avenue.
It was here in St. Paul that she met her first husband Leonard Frank Wahl. Together they had one son Leonard Eugene Wahl.
After the dissolution of that marriage, she met George Peyton Riley who lived on Selby Avneue, he was in close proximity to the Angus Hotel. They married January 20, 1927. They had no children together, but, had a wonderful marriage and George died suddenly , drowning in White Bear lake July 28, 1935, while swimming with his stepson Leonard. After George's untimely death Adeline and her son Leonard moved to 20 Kent St., St. Paul.
Adeline was a master Seamstress and gained employment at the Singer Sewing Comapny on 6th. Street, St. Paul. She worked for the Singer Company as a Sales Women and sewing teacher, until her retirement.
Several years later, she met Douglas Gunn Macdonald at the Singer Company and they married July 22, 1946. They also had a long and happy marriage until his death December 26, 1973. A A few years after the death of her husband Mac she met Leon Richard Davis and they married May 17, 1976. They also had a long marriage for 30 more years.
Adeline was a "Master Seamstress" and a "Master Gardener", a skill she learned while living with her German farming parents.
Adeline was the last of 15 Mielke children to pass. She died at the old age of 102 of natural causes.
