Bobby Jack Shanks went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Arbor Village Nursing Home, Sapulpa, OK.

He was born on July 5, 1931 in Vian, OK to Jesse James and Fannie (Overtaker) Shanks.

He was a retired truck driver. He was an avid coon hunter that loved the chase and watching his dogs work. He loved his grandchildren more than anything and spending time with them. He loved all children and was affectionately known as grandfather to them all.

He was quite the character. He lived life by his own book and was politically incorrect. He loved attention. When he walked in the room you knew he was there. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Cherokee nation and was very proud of his Native American heritage.

He is survived by loving wife, the mother of his children, Lois (Roark) Shanks; children, Bill, Kenny (Angie), Bobby (Tracey) and Vicki (Shanks) Johnson.
11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian "Ruth" Mullins and Clemer "Louise" Putnam (Lee); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded by his parents, Jesse James and Fannie Shanks; 3 brothers, Gano, John, James "Babe" Shanks; and 2 sisters, Pauline and Lahoma Tommie Lowe.
