Harold W. Adkins
Services for Harold William Adkins, 65, Kuna, who died of natural causes Saturday at home, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Kuna Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Dean Beus. Interment will be in Dry Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Relyea Mortuary.
He was born in Walla Walla, Wash., July 3, 1910. He lived with his parents on a homestead at Blacks Creek, attended Lone Tree Grade School near Ustick, and graduated from Boise High School in 1928. He was a machinist in Hoquiam, Wash., and a commercial fisherman at West Port, Wash. He owned and operated the Roto-Rooter Service in Canyon, Gem and Owyhee counties from 1952 until 1966. From 1966 until his retirement he was owner and broker of ADA Realty in Boise. He married Ellen May Herring in Boise, Aug. 23, 1968. He became a member of the LDS Church in 1954 and was a high priest in the Kuna Second Ward, Nampa Stake. He had been a member of the Bishopric In the Nampa First Ward. He was an active member of the National Federation of the Blind. He was social chairman for the Western Chapter and finance chairman for the State Chapter of the Blind.
Survivors include his wife, Kuna; three sons, Richard H. (Adkins) Sharpe, Auburn, Wash., I. Dean Adkins, Boise, and Samuel Adkins, Kuna, two daughters, Wilma Adkins, Salt Lake, and Mrs. Dawn Ellen Clark, Nampa; a brother, Norman L. Adkins, Nampa; four sisters. Mrs. Greta Stritmatter, Aberdeen, Wash., Mrs. Myrtle Smith, Boise. Mrs. Elsie Kingsmith, Cottage Grove, Ore., and Mrs. Alice Davis, Bangor, Maine; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at. Relyea Chapel today and Wednesday from 9:04 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Relyea Chapel Wednesday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and at the Kuna LDS Chapel from noon Thursday until 1 p.m.
