Lee Camp Confederate Soldiers' Home due to "old age", and not having any close relatives nearby. He was ordered for admission on 3/8/1923. He was discharged at his own request 5/24/1923; reentered the Home 10/3/1923. He died there.
The 47th Virginia Infantry Regiment was formed in June, 1861, with men recruited in Caroline, Middlesex, Essex, and Stafford counties. During February, 1865, the 47th and 55th Virginia Regiments were consolidated.
