MRS. AMANDA E. SITLER

Mrs. Amanda E. Sitter, 87, of 60 W. Broadway, Mauch Chunk, died at 8:55 a.m. yesterday in the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton. She had been a patient in the hospital since Oct. 9 after falling at her home.

Born in Mahoning Township, she was a daughter of the late Nathan M. Balliet and Sarah Meinhart. She was a graduate of Peddie School, Heightstown, N.J., and was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia.

Until her marriage to the late Daniel A. Sitler, she taught school in several rural schools of Carbon County. Mrs. Sitler was a very active member for many years of the Elizabeth Webster Bible Class of First Presbyterian Sunday School, Mauch Chunk.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mauch Chunk's Mauch Chunk Sunergoi Society and Mauch Chunk Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Helen E. Sitler, at home, and Mary S., wife of Dr. Elwell F. Kimball, Teaneck. N.J.; three brothers, Atty. Andrew L. Balliet, Seattle, Wash., David M. Balliet, Myerstown, and Dr. Calvin J. Balliet, Lehighton.

Her husband preceded her in death on June 2, 1937.
