Paul D. Bissonnette, Sr., age 82, of Chicopee, died on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Holyoke, son of the late George E. and Meta G. (Denton) Bissonnette and was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart High School. Paul was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean War, and was a retired custodian for the town of Granby. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 2000, and a well- known drummer for the North East Country Band. He had lived in Holyoke, Southampton and Westfield before moving to Chicopee. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley (Taylor) Depka-Bissonnette, a son Paul D. Bissonnette Jr. of FL, a daughter Debra L. (Bissonnette) Cauley of West Springfield, his ex-wife, Constance (Marquis) Bissonnette of Fl.; two step-daughters: Cheryl (Depka) D'Amico and Frances Depka, both of Chicopee, a step-son, Fred Depka of California, ten grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren, and his cats April & Belle. Paul was predeceased by his brothers, George J. and Robert A. Bissonnette. A committal service with military honors will be held Wednesday, September 17, at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA. There are no calling hours. Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke is handling arrangements.
