Born in Straban Township, he was the son of the late Allan and Lottie (Evans) Harman.
Mr. Harman was, at one time, employed by the Gettysburg Silk Mill, Gettysburg Ice and Storage, and retired from Knouse Foods.
He was was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy and was a life member of the Gettysburg Moose, VFW Post 15 and Gettysburg Fire Company.
Mr. Harman was a member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church.
He was the husband of the late Regina (Sell) Harman and is survived by a son, Terry E. Hartman, of Hanover; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Elaine A. Kirk and Phyllis B. Carpenter.
