George Washington Newman was born on August 16, 1863 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, the son of Bartlett Newman.
A resident of 2512 Martha Street, Nashville, he was a retired farmer, 80 years old and the husband of Nancy C. Duke- Newman when he fell into a barrel of water at home and drowned on October 14, 1943. His Burial was two days later in Mount Zion Cemetery, Cheatham County.
