Clara was my grandmother. She was born on the family farm in Provio, Proviso Township, Cook County, Illinois to August Degener and Louise Dieke. She was the 8th of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Her grandparent's Heinrich and Margrethe(Ehrich)Degener and Heinrich and Wilhelmine (Wesemann) Dieke were early settlers of Proviso Township. The Degeners coming in 1841 and the Diekes coming in 1845 both families from the Kingdom of Hannover. Clara married Eustace Irving Beagle July 28, 1904. They were divorced in 1935. The family settled in Everett in 1912. Her family called her Connie (a name which I christened her with when I first learned to talk). Connie was a fun loving and wonderful grandma.
