Served on the Infirmary Corps at Shiloh, Vicksburg, Baton Rouge, Stone River, and Jackson; fought in the ranks at Chickamauga, Mission Ridge, Rocky Face Gap, Resaca, and Dallas, and was captured at Kenesaw Mountain, June, 1864.
