Harold Bell Wright's Father dies, Aged 84, in Tampa, Fla.
Lived in Rome When Second Son, Famous Writer, Was Born.
William A. Wright, father of the famous novelist, Harold Bell Wright, passed away at Tampa, Florida, October 11, in the 84th year of his age. He was born in Wright Settlement, town of Rome, son of William B. Wright and Hannah Raymond Wright.
Mr. Wright was a veteran of the Civil War, having enlisted in the 97th Regiment when just 19 years old, and served from private to second lieutenant until the close of the war.
He married Alma Tefft Watson and lived in western states until the death of his father, when he returned to Rome and with his brother, George R. Wright, carried on the farm until it was sold. His wife died in 1884, leaving three sons, William the eldest, was acidentally shot in 1894. The second son, Harold Bell Wright, was born on the old homestead in Wright Settlement, now lives in Tucson, Arizona. The third son, George, is owner of a ranch in Imperial Valley, Calif. Mr. Wright also leaves two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Charles S. Pollard, Springfield, Mo., Miss Susan A. Wright, Utica, and Benjamin A. Wright, Porterville, Calif.
Mr. Wright recently spent several weeks in Oneida County and returned to Tampa three weeks ago.
Interment will be in Wright Settlement Cemetery upon arrival of remains in Utica.
