Natalie (Tye) Blankenship of Wilson passed into her Lord and Savior's loving arms on Monday, April 12, 2010.

Tye was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Jewett, TX, but grew up in Wilson. Her parents were Howard and Hildra (Trautwein) Crosby. She married Elmer Blankenship, who preceded her in death in 1997. Tye taught school for 30 years in Wilson ISD. She graduated from Texas Tech and was a member of the Koshari Social Club which later became Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Tye was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson. She accepted Christ at age 12 and was baptized in a dirt tank.

Tye was one of the first women to join the Wilson Lions Club, was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years, and was in the teachers' sorority of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Tye is survived by her two children, daughter Judy Bryant and her husband Joe and son Jim Blankenship and his wife Sherry all of Lubbock. She also leaves behind a sister, Marjorie Burns of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, James Bryant and wife Kathy of San Francisco, CA, Jennifer White and husband Mark of Carrolton, Brandi Blankenship of Dallas, and Trudy Rice of Lubbock; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She moved to Lubbock in 2006 and lived in Wedgewood South until her death.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Wilson's First Baptist Church with interment following in Green Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
