TWIN FALLS • Wilma Jean Chamberlain, age 87, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at the Twin Falls Center.

Wilma was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Buhl, Idaho, to Arye and Anna Chamberlain. Wilma was one of eight children born to Arye and Anna. During her lifetime, Wilma lived in Buhl, Wendell, Kimberly, Dietrich and Jerome. In 1938, the family moved to the Jerome Farm located on the 700 Mile Road north of Jerome. In 1969, they moved to North Davis Street in Jerome and then in 1971 to their home on B Street. In January 2012, due to deteriorating health, Wilma moved to the Twin Falls Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Wilma attended schools in Kimberly, Dietrich and Jerome (Pleasant Plains School). In 1939, Wilma made her choice to serve the Lord, a choice that she remained faithful to until the day of her death.

After moving to B Street in Jerome, Wilma and her sister, Nellie, actively cared for a number of children for many years. Wilma loved to work in her yard and each year produced beautiful displays of plants and flowers. Wilma also had a love for animals. She maintained an extensive correspondence list of friends and relatives, exchanging letters and cards during holiday seasons.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Merle, Cecil and Ora Dale; and sisters, Ola, Elsie, Lois and Nellie. She is survived by her nieces, Bernita VanZuyen Chaney and Naoma VanZuyen Ward (Tim) of Maple Valley, Wash.; nephews, Lyle VanZuyen and Carl VanZuyen of Hanford, Calif.; many cousins from the Shewmaker, Ennis, Butler, Nicholson and McGee families in Jerome; Twin Falls; Cove, Ore.; and Casper, Wyo.; and many, many lifelong friends.

The family and friends of Wilma Chamberlain would like to express their appreciation to the Twin Falls Center for the kind and compassionate care given to her during the past 2½ years.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at Demaray’s Jerome Memorial Chapel, 629 E. Third. A viewing will be held just prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Jerome Cemetery.
