James H. Mahorney is the son
of James and Emeline Mahorney.

On January 6, 1863 he married
Mary Georgiana Chamberlain in
Washington, District of Columbia

James and Georgiana were married
for thirty-six years and together
they had three beautiful children.
Martha, Clara and Thomas.

In 1869 he was appointed to the
District of Columbia Fire Department
and Retired after 24 years of service.


Evening Star., April 19, 1899

On Tuesday evening, April 18, 1899 at
10 o'clock, at his residence, 3221 P street
northwest, James H. Mahorney, beloved
husband of Georgianna Mahorney, in the
fifty-ninth year of his age.

Farewell, dear father, sweet thy rest,
Weary with years and worn with pain
Farewell, till in some happy place
We shall behold thy face again.

'Tis ours to meet thee all our years
And tender memories of thee keep;
Shine in the Lord to rest, for so
He giveth His beloved sleep.

Funeral from his late residence on
Friday, April 21, at 3 o'clock p.m.
Internment at Rock Creek cemetery.
