Albert Hector Brooks was born on October 1, 1877, at 2 Wesley Street, Barnsley, County of York, England, according to his birth certificate. But in other records as the census, death information and his grave stone, his birth date conflicts with his birth certificate.

He was the son of Mary Ann, also known as Annie, Wainwright (Brooks 1st) Rodine (2nd), DOB: 10/28/1851 - DOD: 11/1/1852, Liverpool, Lancaster, England and William Henry Brooks, DOB: 1852, Yorkshire, York, England.

Albert had once had polio and was crippled.

Albert's parents, Mary Ann and William Henry Brooks married on 1/12/1851, Wesleyan Methodist, Barnsley, County of York, England.

Albert was born in Barnsley, England, DOB: 10/1/1877. He came to the United States with his mother and his brother, Frederick Brooks, in 1877 via New York City.

His mother, Mary Ann "Annie" Wainwright Brooks, remarried to Frederick Rodine, aka Rodines, aka Rhodes. Her second husband served in the Civil War, a volunteer in Pennsylvania until 1865. So they must have met in the USA and married here. Her first husband should be buried in England but is unknown.

Mary Ann, Frederick Rodine and Frederick B. Brooks, Albert's brother, are buried at the Elwood Cemetery, Atlantic County, New Jersey.

He was the grandson of William Brooks, a tailor and Maria Davis, of the County of York, Barnsely, England and William Wainwright, a weaver and Hannah Clough.

Albert was the great-grandson of Willaim and Sarah Wainwright, a weaver and also, James and Ann Clough, a stay manufacturer.

Albert married Ora Gordon, DOB: 8/16/1877, of Farmington, Dakota, MN, on 12/24/1900 in Chula Vista, San Diego, CA.

They had two known children: a son, Gordon Wainwright Brooks, DOB: 1/6/1902 - DOD: 1908, born and died in New London, CT;

and, a daughter, Betty "Besse" Brooks Park. Husband's name is Walter Gordon Park. Betty was born, in May 11, 1918, in Flagstaff, Ariz. She died Dec. 16, 2002 in Palm Desert, CA. (Buried near Albert and Ora is a Leona B. Park, Walter's mother.

Albert was a photographer and liked to travel. By census information that I have, Albert and Ora must have traveled coast to coast more than one time. Since he was a photographer, he probably moved his business to whereever they moved.

According to a Census, Albert and Ora lived in New London, CT, where their first child, Gordon Wainwright Brooks, was born and also died. Albert and Ora lived at that location at least between the dates of 1902 and 1908.

The 1920 Census, January 2, 1920, Elwood, Mullica Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey states that Albert, Ora and daughter, Bessie lived with Albert's mother, Mary Ann and her husband, Frederick Rodine, possibly on Locust Street, Elwood, NJ. Albert's brother and family were also living in Elwood, NJ.

According to letter I have, written to my mother, on November 11, 1934, he planned to travel to Mexico and Canada when his daughter graduated from high school the following year.

At the time the letter was written, they lived at 615 W. Main Street, Avon Park, Florida.

According to a document I have, Ora Gordon Brooks, received her Holy Confirmation in Flagstaff, Arizona on 1/26/1919, by the Rev. Luther Moore, Rector.

Albert's WWI registration card, signed 9/11/1918, stated he lived in Flagstaff, Arizona but no street address. Roll 1522348, Conconino, Arizona - County of Navago, Holbrook, Arizona.

However, according to records found online recently, both, Albert and Ora died at the City Hospital in San Diego, California Hospital. He and Ora may have settled in that area where they married.

Both Albert and Ora are buried in the Glen Abby Memorial Park, Chula Vista, San Diego, CA.

His brother Frederick, married Alice Elizabeth French of Honesdale, Wayne County, Pennsylvania on 2/2/1907. They had three children: Adelaide Brooks Milne, DOB: 8/14/1909; Jack Clough Brooks, DOB: 10/5/1911 and Marjorie Jane Brooks Gries, DOB: 4/14/1917. Alice and Frederick divorced. Alice, and the three children are buried in the Egg Harbor City Cemetery, Atlantic County, New Jersey.

I am the daughter of Marjorie Jane Brooks Gries. I have the birth certificates for both Albert and Frederick Brooks.
