James Albritton was a plantation owner and saddler.

1715- James Albritton moved with his father Thomas Albritton from Charles Parish, York County, VA to "Eastern Shores", Kendall Island, Princess Anne County, VA.
1726- married first wife Elizabeth. They had four sons,
1731- father, Thomas Albritton died leaving James half his land and all his saddle tools. James appeared in court and declined executorship, probably because of his fathers very new wife who had just inherited half of the estate.

1741- James sells inherited land on Kendall Island, wife Elizabeth releases dower rights.

1745- March 11, James bought first recorded land, a plantation, in then Beaufort County, North Carolina, later to become Pitt County. Land was North of Tar River, North of Cundle Creek, near George Maye. Land was purchased from William Stafford, grant of 1740.

1745- James is married by now to second wife, Amy. Son Richard Albritton is born in 1745 in Beaufort County, North Carolina.

1756- Feb. 27- James Albritton bought land from David Cannon, south of the Tar River.

1762, 1764- on "Taxable" list of Pitt County, North Carolina. Son George is still living with James, and is also "taxable".

May 5, 1774- Land of deceased James Albritton is sold and witnessed by his sons.
