Mrs.
Mary A. Cogswell Newton, widow of Danial H. Newton, died at her home in Brookline Thursday of heart disease at the age of 78. She was a native of Ipswich, and in early life taught school for many years. She and Mr. Newton lived here on Main street while he county treasurer, and he was a deacon of the Second Congregational Churrch, and was interested in erecting the present building. Many years ago they moved to Holyoke where Mr. Newton was prominent in developing the water power. The funeral is to be this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of Mrs. J. P. Lodge, Mrs. Newton's niece.
