"I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Janet Bowman Cannon Dunford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend entered into the peace of her Heavenly Father June 21, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She lived a life of compassion, devotion, and endurance. Her final sacrifice is a lesson of steadfast faith and true love for her family and friends. Our Mom did not lose her battle with cancer - victory was hers in the way she faced this challenge for so many years with dignity and grace.

Janet was born December 2, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Howell Quayle and Ruth Bowman Cannon. She attended Highland High School and the University of Utah.

She married her sweetheart, David Clayton Dunford, on November 22, 1963 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have shared 42 beautiful years together in a most caring and loving relationship that will last forever.

She is adored by six children and 12 grandchildren who have been blessed by the warmth of her love: Melissa and Stuart Wright, Mary-Elizabeth and Alan Farrell, John and Cindi Dunford, James and Jill Dunford, Stephen and Jennifer Dunford, Suzanne and Richie Clark. Her grandchildren: Jacob, Porter, Samuel, Joshua, Andrew, Mckenzie, Katherine, Samantha, Charlotte, Rowan, Logan and Hailey will dearly miss their fun and wonderful granny. She is deeply loved by her mother, Ruth, her sisters Connie, Ruthie, and Mary, and her brothers, Stephen and Mark. She is preceded in death by her father, Howell Q. Cannon.

Always kind and ever faithful in her testimony of the gospel, her life has been a shining example to all. She fulfilled her most noble callings of wife, mother, and grandmother with unconditional love and devotion. She is a beautiful and talented woman who leaves a lasting legacy of selfless love and fun traditions.

She created a home where all enjoyed her cheerful spirit and she will be remembered as "the greatest granny ever!"

As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many leadership positions in ward and stake callings in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women organizations. She also served in the Lambda Delta Sigma Sorority Association. She was a wonderful teacher and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 26th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the East Mill Creek 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 3750 South Hillside Lane (2502 East), Salt Lake City. Special thanks to Dr. Kent DiFiore, Dr. Greg Litton, Rosie Conder, N.P., Karen O'Driscoll, R.N. and the many other nurses who loved and cared for our mom at Utah Cancer Specialists.
