Irvin L. Bloom, 71, Of Rr 2 Hunlock Creek, died Wednesday evening at Mercy Health Care Center, Nanticoke, where he had been a patient for the past two years.
Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late John F. and
Alice A. Harrison Bloom. He resided in Hunlock Creek for most of his life.
He was employed as a presser for Luzerne Outerwear for 20 years, retiring
13 years ago.
He was a member of the Brethern in Christ Church, Hunlock Creek, and a
charter member of the Hunlock Creek Volunteer Fire Co.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Marjorie Winans in 1990,
brothers, Daniel, Harry, John, William and Edward; sister, Viola Atherton.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Lanning, Hunlock Creek; Mrs.
Jeff (Karen) Widmer, Bartonsville; seven grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Curtis L. Swanson
Funeral Home, corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with the Rev. Thomas
Bonham, pastor of Calvary Bible Chapel, Muhlenberg, officiating.
Interment will be in Bloomingdale Cemetery, Ross Township.
Friends may call one hour prior to service time Saturday.
