Obituary: Thomas Hillier Collins

PROVO--Thomas Hiller Collins, 78, building contractor and pioneer resident of Provo died Thursday at the family home, 610 West Center Street of a heart ailment.

He was born Nov. 3, 1863, in Collingbourne, Kingston, England, son of Aquilla and Lemira Hillier Collins. He came to Utah with his parents in 1855, settling in Provo, where he had since resided. He attended Provo schools and Brigham Young Academy.

As a building contractor and brick and stone mason, Mr. Collins assisted in constructing many church and public buildings in this area. He was a member of the Church and served on numerous church committees including the old folks committee. He married Annie Louisa Davis on Nov 3, 1887 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Besides his widow, surviving are three sons and three daughters; Lloyd R., Wendell D. and E. Reed (Lob) Collins, Mrs. R. M. Bullock, Mrs. C.W. Hawke and Mrs. W. Raymond Green , Provo; two brothers, John H. Collins of Provo and Jonas H. Collins of Salt Lake, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Arthur D. Taylor in charge.
