Bertram Fayon Lanning is my Grandpa. I was very young when he passed away but I do have a little memory about him. What I do remember is that he loved his grandchildren. He was very handy with his hands. I remember well the adorandak chairs he made by splitting limbs. He also made wooden toys for us which included wagons full of blocks. But, since I was in Indiana and he was in Michigan my sisters and I missed out on so much not living close to him.

Grandpa was born to Uriah and Sarah Lanning of Portland, IN. He had a sister named Augusta. His Grandpa Asbury Lanning lived with them in the 1900 US Census for Portland, IN; Jay County.

The following obituary is from the Grand Rapids Press, Grand Rapids, Michigan on Oct 20, 1960

A very special thank you to Sarita Rodriguez for taking time out of her busy day and going to Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens to take a picture of Grandpa's headstone for us. It means more to us then we can express.
