Alexander, Former Redlands Mayor, Succumbs REDLANDS-- Franklin Arthur Alexander, 87, a native of Iowa and resident of Redlands 47 years, died Wednesday. He had lived at 433 Grant St. He was a former Redlands mayor. A member of the First Methodist Church, he was a former member of the Elks Club, Kiwanis Club and Fraternal Brotherhood. Alexander served on the city council from 1912 to 1916. and again from 1930 to 1930. He was the mayor for one term. He was also a member of the San Bernardino County Grand Jury at one time. His father was mayor of Los Angeles for three terms and had been chariman of the Los Angeles County board of supervisors. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Clara J. Alexander, two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Kavanagh [sic] of San Bernardino and Mrs. Lucille Danielson of Redlands. Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 11 at Olivewood Cemetery, Riverside with the Rev. Frank M. Toothaker, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Redlands, officiating. F. Arthur Cortner Chapel is in charge.
