Services for Virginia S. Acevedo, 69, of Killeen will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Killeen City Cemetery.
Mrs. Acevedo died Feb. 28, 2006, in a Temple hospital.
She was born June 6, 1936, in Elgin, where she was raised.
She married Eugene Gayton in 1959 and moved to Killeen. After the divorce, she married her husband of 23 years, Edward C. Acevedo.
Mrs. Acevedo was a homemaker who also worked as a cook for the Killeen Indepen-dent School District and later for Bell Haven Nursing Home. She also worked for Gates Cleaners before retirement.
Survivors include her husband of Killeen; three sons, David Gayton of Copperas Cove, Richard Gayton of Morgantown, W.Va., and Adam Gayton of Killeen; three daughters, Diana Hawkins of Grafton, W.Va., Ida Gayton and Lisa Gayton, both of Killeen; two brothers, Daniel Salazar of Elgin and Ambrosio Salazar of Dallas; one sister, Eva Thompson of Copperas Cove; 11 grandchildren, Ricky, Adam, Melissa, April, Naomi, Christopher, Janell, Antonio Gayton, Ray-mond Hawkins, Cierra Smith and Brandyn Bussey; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Acevedo was preceded in death by her parents, Antancio and Nicholasa Salazar; and a brother, Jose Salazar.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
