Nannie Faye Ferguson Whitley passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, in the Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandy Hook.
Faye was born Nov. 19, 1920, on Briar Fork in Elliott County to the late Lewis Edmon and Mary Frances Bays Ferguson.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. Whitley; two sons, Randy Edmon Whitley and Jackie Keith Whitley; two grandsons, John Dwight Whitley and Jordan Wade Whitley; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Keith Whitley.
During WWII, Faye worked as a welder at a ship yard in Baltimore, Md. She worked as a sales clerk at Prichard’s Department Store in Sandy Hook and was editor for the Elliott County News for 20 years.
She is survived by a son, Dwight Whitley (Flo); a daughter, Mary W. Reams (Ferrell Bailey); grandaughter Kim Whitley Gahm (Rodney), Morgan Gaddis Whitley Cook (Justin); grandsons Bob Skaggs (Robin), Randy Nathan Whitley (Tina), Jesse Keith Whitley (Ashlee) and Michael Keith Whitley; nine great-grandchildren, Kobi, Ane, Kole and Keri Whitley, Preston Cook, Amanda Stafford, Rebecka Whitley, Jackie Keith Whitley and Bobbi Jac Skaggs; five great-great-grandchildren, Ryan Alan and Landon Wayne Stafford, John Patrick Whitley, Charles Edward and Damien Dalton Calton; and a host of friends and extended family.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Lewis & Ferguson Funeral Home at Sandy Hook. Burial will be in the Elliott County Memory Gardens.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
