Amelia Kia Naeole Robinson was born October 29th, 1910 in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, to Amelia and Josiah Kia Naeole. She attended Haiku Elementary and Maui High Schools. Amelia was employed for Naval Intelligence where she met and worked with Charles D. Robinson. After a lengthy courtship, Amelia and Charles were united in holy matrimony on August 25th, 1948.
In the summer of 1968 Amelia’s life was changed and took on a new meaning. She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost. After faithful service at the Garden of Prayer Church, under the pastorage of the late Dr. Andrew J. Cross, the Lord called Elder Charles D. Robinson to the pastorage. On July 22, 1973 “The Church of Jesus Christ” was established. Our first lady served in many capacities such as Church Secretary, a Sunday School Teacher and president of the Willing Workers. She also availed herself to the Altar Workers in providing proper instruction and guidance. Even during her lengthy illness she continued to serve as an adviser to the Willing Workers. She encouraged and supported her husband until he went to be with the Lord.
Sister Robinson was a dedicated and faithful wife and mother. Due to her illness later in life, she was unable to attend church services physically, but was supportive emotionally and spiritually. We will remember “Mother Robinson” for that special smile for all those that knew her.
On Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 10th at 8:45 P.M., she exchanged her cross for a crown. In her homecoming she leaves; a devoted and loving husband, Elder Charles D. Robinson, three daughters, Linda M. Williams-Owens, Kenya Sexton and Mona L. Russell, two sons, Daniel and Dinis Palmer, two sisters Mary Kia Yap of Hawaii and Lillian Dorsey of San Diego, three brothers, Phillip, Ernest and Josiah Kia Naeole all of Hawaii, five grandchildren, Robert Anthony Keller, Amos Marquite Anthony Williams, Lijon Lei Nani Russell, Johnnie Samuel Russell, III and Lionel Palmer, three sons-in law, Charles L. Owens, John Mahlon Sexton and John Samuel Russell, II, one daughter-in-law, Josephine Palmer all of San Diego, a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and many friends.
